Homecoming Scotland

Celebrate Homecoming Scotland in style

celebrate the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns' birth

One of the Scots greatest exports was and still is its sons and daughters. Everyone knows someone of Scots descent even if they are not one themselves.
During Homecoming Scotland 2009 we Scots will be celebrating with a year-long programme of events to highlight Scotland's great contributions to the world:
With Sterling falling against most major currencies, 2009 will be one of the best years for Scots abroad to come home to Scotland and see why so many of us love the lifestyle, country and people.

A Day-Glo fairy screams into a mobile then runs off sobbing, tutu wafting forlornly behind her as a gaggle of other fairies have a concerned huddle about it all. Welcome to the Wickerman where everything is just a little bit different.
The Wickerman is a firm favourite with fans thanks to a wide-open music policy that covers everything from chart-busting pop to dance and rock. And, of course it all ends with a 30ft high wicker fella going up in flames. What could be better?see Website for more info

The Gathering 2009
Join clan members from around the world to witness Scotland's largest ever Highland Games in Holyrood Park, one of Edinburgh most beautiful parks and home of the famous Authurs Seat, a long extinct volcano. Be amazed as the giants battle, at the base of Salisbury Cargs, to win the 2009 World Highland Games Heavy Events. Be uplifted by the skills of the pipers and dancers. Watch in envy at the stamina of the hill runners. Delight in the live music, top-quality arts and crafts, and the best local food and drink.
Visit the clan tents and perhaps learn a bit of family history. The centrepiece of The Gathering 2009 is the Clan Parade up the famous Royal Mile, culminating in a spectacular Historic Pageant on the Castle's esplanade.
