Visit Edinburgh during Hogmanay and experience an evening like no other |
There are many things that Scots do really well, and one of them is to bring in the new year in style. Hogmanay, which is what New Year's Eve is known as in Scotland, is therefore one of the best times to visit, especially if you want to get a real feel for the true Scottish spirit. You will need to find somewhere to stay for the night, and our Edinburgh Sherwood Guest House is just the place. As long as you book early enough in advance, we will try to squeeze you in and then you can get on with enjoying yourself. The world-famous Edinburgh street party is the place to be for the evening, and you can expect lots of great entertainment.
On Sunday 30th December 2012, the evening will start with a torchlight procession from Parliament Square to Calton Hill Son et Lumiere. There will be a Fireworks Finale, which will be free to all visitors. This is a great way to start your new year's celebrations, so you should plan to be ready for the night and to have finished doing other things like relaxing and playing on www.Partypoker.com in good time. You will need to buy tickets for the actual street party, but it will be worth it. Join 80,000 other revellers in sight of Edinburgh Castle and enjoy the fantastic live music and entertainment. There will be outdoor bars, giant screens, DJ's and most importantly, a spectacular fireworks display at midnight.
On Hogmanay 2012, there will also be a Concert in the Gardens where revellers can see in the new year, and the UK's largest outdoor New Year ceilidh will also be taking place for those who love to dance. For the adventurous sorts, New Year's Day will bring the opportunity to take a dip in the sea, which has somehow become a Scottish tradition over the years, or alternatively you could head to the New Year Games, which will be announced nearer the time.
